Brain Metastases – Current Challenges, New Strategies

“September Lectures” by LMU

Dear colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that I invite you to attend this year’s edition of the “September Lectures”, which will focus on “Brain Metastases – Current Challenges, New Strategies”.

This special symposium is dedicated to bringing together leading experts in oncology, radiation oncology, neurosurgery, and translational research to explore current challenges and emerging strategies in the management of brain metastases. We are proud to present a distinguished lineup of speakers who will share cutting-edge research, clinical insights, and forward-thinking perspectives across this rapidly evolving field.

Topics will include the biology and imaging of the brain metastasis interface, histological growth patterns, radiationassociated risks such as radionecrosis and how they may be avoided, as well as the evolving role of targeted therapy, stereotactic body radiotherapy, and radiosurgical treatment strategies. In addition, current debates such as preoperative stereotactic radiosurgery versus postoperative SBRT will highlight how clinical practice continues to develop toward more individualized and precise treatment approaches.

These discussions aim to deepen our understanding of brain metastases and inspire engaging, high-level conversations among peers on how to balance efficacy, toxicity, and innovation in patient care.

The event promises not only academic enrichment but also a unique opportunity for connection.

I look forward to welcoming you to Munich for this exciting meeting at the intersection of innovation and tradition.

With warm regards,

Prof. Dr. med. Claus Belka
